Election Results
So you think that your competitor is running a better ad or has more visibility on social media than you. The stark truth is that you are both invisible because your potential customers are too distracted to notice you. Election results. COVID-19. Back to school. Gun rights. Tropical storm coming. It is important to have a consistent presence so that you are eventually seen and recognized. So let’s say you have a new post on social media and it got 50k likes. How many people do you think saw it? I’d err on the side of zero and recommend that you keep posting. People are so distracted that they may click “like” but not really see you. Think of it as listening to someone but not hearing what they are saying. It can be upsetting to know that you can help so many people with your products and services if you could just get their attention and let know that you are there for them.
The best advice I can give you is to up your activity as much as you can. Whether it’s posting on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter everyday, or posting a video on YouTube every day. Maybe it’s getting yourself a website or fixing the one that you have. Maybe its just exposing your website properly with SEO so that you show up in search results when people search for your product or the service that you offer. Maybe its getting yourself more visible on business directories like Google, Bing, Apple, Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Yelp. Maybe it’s getting a business profiles setup on Facebook and LinkedIn. Maybe its optimizing your visibility for voice search so that when someone asks Siri, Alexa, Google Assistance, Cortana, or Bixby where to get the widget you sell or for someone nearby that offers the service that you provide, that your business actually shows up in the results so that they can reach out to you. Maybe its doing a daily video blog or written blog helping teach other people how to do what you do.
The point is that no matter how great you are at what you do, or how great your product and/or services are, you will not be able to help anyone if they don’t know who you are or know that you exist. If you have the time and expertise, then ramp up your activity. Set a schedule and stick to it and make more noise online so that more people can find you. If you are lacking in certain areas of expertise, like say you are great a Facebook but have no clue what to do with Instagram. You are great with Facebook and Instagram but have no idea what LinkedIn is for or Twitter. You have a great new website but nobody calls you because whomever set it up for you doesn’t have expertise in SEO. Whatever your gaps are, either get some training and learn how to do it yourself, or hire someone to help you out. No matter what your budget is, the results will be worth it if you invest in the right areas. Don’t fall for companies trying to take all of your money to do paid digital ads to drive traffic to you website, when your website doesn’t even have calls to action to ask this new found traffic to call you or to buy something. Make sure that your website is ready to convert first. If you want to have more traffic to your website, invest in SEO Services for your website so that people can find you. Once an ad is done, so is the traffic boost. So improve your website and its visibility for a much better return on investment with SEO, and then use ads for things that they are good at, like promoting a sale, or a contest to get you more followers, or email addresses to send your specials to each month.
Maybe all of this is out of your comfort area and you have no idea where to even consider starting. Look there are a lot of companies out there that are willing to help you. You just have to find the right one for you. So reach out to someone like DigiLogic and at least ask for an audit or assessment of where you are. We offer a Free “Quick Look” audit and will get on a call to talk through it with you so that you can find some direction to move in. We also offer more detailed audits for a fee that will provide you with a detailed report or even a full Digital Marketing Strategy and Actionable Roadmap so that you know what to do and what order to do it in. Maybe you just need to get enough information to help you identify the gaps between where you are and where you want to be so that you can figure out what pieces you should learn more about or delegate to someone else.
Website design, calls to action, social media presence and activity, consistent branding, audio, video, photos, emails, follow ups, asking or reviews from past customers on platforms like Google, Yelp, and Facebook to make you more desirable are all part of the vast world of Digital Marketing, and you really should be utilize as many of these channels as you can to widen your reach into the vast world of overly distracted consumers. You know you want to and can help so many people, so take the steps to get them to know you so that they can do business with you.
If you knew you could grow would you? Do you know how much a new client is worth to you the first year, and over their lifetime? How much would you invest in getting a new loyal customer? How much have you invested in the last 12-months? Are you happy with the results that you have been getting so far or are you ready for more?
